A Bit About Me
My professional career commenced as a Helicopter Controller in H.M Royal Navy and progressed with Crown Lift Trucks, Case Communications, Pace Micro and Telewest, through to leadership of the largest Virgin Group B2B sales operation in the world at Virgin Media Business; a leadership role of 400+ people generating £500m+ p/a in revenue.
I’m not really sure how I got from being a member of the armed forces to being a Sales Director, though I suspect that like a lot of people “sales” is somewhere I ended up, rather than being the destination I had in mind when I set off.
In 2010, I decided to pull the ripcord on the parachute of corporate life and founded johnpc ltd, the objective being to create a company through which I could share my experience (both good and not so good) and expertise with a wider audience on an independent basis.
This is a journey which has been profitable and rewarding in equal measure, provided me an opportunity to learn a lot about myself and (most importantly) how I can become better at what I do.
It’s also given me a valuable insight into the challenges facing a wide range of organisations and how I can use my experience to help my customers overcome them.
That said, it has been pointed out to me that “johnpc ltd” might not be the most imaginative company name I could have come up with, so I’ll be probably stick to B2B sales and operations as my area of focus and not branch off into company branding.
Outside of work I spend most of my time either spoiling my Granddaughters, or with my hiking boots on up a mountain somewhere or lamenting the gradual decline of Manchester United (fortunately for me I’m old enough to remember the bad times before the good times).
